Jo and the team spent the week visiting local groups including Residential and Care homes, Primary and Senior Schools. It was to promote racing and to help those most affected by lockdown in Covid times.
Here, Sigurd visits Ilkley Grammar to encourage and educate pupils about careers and inspire interest in racing. We took along the wooden equicisor, everyone had great fun when both teachers and pupils tried riding like a jockey. The teachers were brilliant sports, one sports tutor falling over its head made him the hero of the hour to bursts of laughter, and the kids had a blast. Siggy was a legend and loved all the fuss made of him. The younger children fed Teddy the Shetland, Siggy’s companion, carrots until he burst. Sigurd’s fan club followed him closely and were delighted when he won at Wetherby this year under newly crowned champion jockey Brian Hughes
